Green Data Systems announces Green Data Center in-a-box

BRUSSEL/FRANKFURT/DEVENTER, 5 May 2010, Green Data Systems today announced the introduction of Green Data Center in-a-box (GDC in-a-box). This new solution stands for a modular datacenter housed in enhanced 20' and 40’ shipping containers. Green Data Systems (GDS) also announces a new GDS Suite of Services to support GDC in-a-box deployment from site preparation to installation and testing, as well as integration of GDC in-a-box into existing IT infrastructures.

GDC in-a-box leverages Green Data Systems’ design innovation to engineer out complexity and provide a high-density, energy efficient and rapidly deployable solution to meet datacenter expansion and mobility requirements.

Green Data Systems offers with its new Green Data Center in-a-box solutions 4 basic type solutions: 2 types 20' and 40’ shipping containers. The Green Data Center in-a-box solutions are eco friendly and sustainable and can be customized with quality cooling, security, ups and IT technology. Up to a maximum of 14 Racks can be placed, generator can be placed internal or externally. IT load can be maximized to 90Kw.

Capable of strong compute performance and high disk capacity in a heterogeneous environment GDC in-a-box is deployable in one-tenth the time it takes to design, build and deploy a typical brick and mortar datacenter, at a fraction of the cost. GDC in-a-box, with its innovative design, also delivers lower cooling costs, independent of payload, as compared to a typical datacenter.

Wessel Graatsma, CEO of Green Data Systems: “GDC in-a-box is a smart solution for rapid, easy deployment of high-density computing. GDC in-a-box allows customers to not only solve for their growing compute demands almost immediately, but customers also will gain significant cost savings in not having to power up an additional datacenter. GDC in-a-box can be shipped to customer sites through Europe".

GDC in-a-box will take care of the power and heat exchange requirements for the maximum payload at customers. Another strong argument is its simplicity. Every organization, whether it is a physics lab or a financial institution, is going to be faced with the same problem of running out of datacenter support resources. Important benefit is that this allows customers to increase data processing and computing capacity faster. With GDC in-a-box it is possible to scale up computing resources quickly, and this can be the difference between success and failure for customers.

With the GDC in-a-box Suite of Services, GDS can provide customers a complete turn-key solution for quickly expanding datacenter capacity globally - from preparing the site to installation, testing, and integrating GDC in-a-box in existing IT infrastructures. Key services include:

•          Assessment and Architecture Services: GDS can work with customers to understand the business and assess your needs, design a configuration for payload within GDC in-a-box to support specific datacenter application requirements, and to prepare the site for delivery and installation of the GDC in-a-box.

•          GDS can integrate and fully test customer payload in the GDC in-a-box using the GDS Customer Ready Systems program, eliminating the hassle of installing IT systems on-site.

•          Lights-out Management and Support: GDS remote management services help increase system availability and reduce operating costs by monitoring your systems from afar to detect and address potential problems, and minimize unplanned downtime.
